Overview of CCSU Social Work Field Education
Thank
you for your interest in our field education program. The Social Work Program at Central
Connecticut State University is proud of our field component. It has been
recognized by the Council on Social Work
Education (CSWE), our national accrediting body, as a major strength of the
program.
The
CCSU social work program is an undergraduate generalist program.
Upon completion of this major, students will be qualified to function in
a wide spectrum of entry-level social work positions.
In preparation for this goal, students will have “hands on”
experiences with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
The
decision for an agency to “take on” a CCSU social work intern is a
thoughtful and informed one. It is our expectation that students have
opportunities to integrate classroom knowledge into the practice setting,
with the support and guidance
of agency personnel.
On this website is information regarding our field component: the 5 Hour Volunteer Experience, and the Senior Field Practicum.
If
you are an agency interested in providing field learning experiences for our
students, please consult this sit and complete the appropriate forms provided,
and return to the Field Education Coordinator. This information will be
used to determine (1)the appropriateness of placements for our program, and (2)
appropriateness of placements for each student.
It will be entered into our field agency database and onto our developing
Field Agency Website. Feel free
to send agency/program brochures, or any other additional information to assist
us and to be shared with students. The Field Experience Web Site can be accessed
by going to the Social Work Program located at www.sociology.ccsu.edu/socialwork.
The
Field Education Coordinator is available to assist in developing placement
options at your agency. Do not
hesitate to contact the social work program with your request or questions.
Dr. Catherine R. Baratta can be reached at (860) 832-3016 or barattac@ccsu.edu.
Once gain thank you for your interest. We look forward to this partnership in developing the next generation social workers.
