Description: Producing training tapes for the DCF Training Academy. Most projects are done completely in house from concept, scripting, coordinating (shoots, interviews, production equipment) lighting, audio, logging of tapes, editing, graphics to the master tape.

Requirement: Intern must be motivated, a self-started, able to work unsupervised, and work in team setting.  Intern should have some basic knowledge of video production; hands on training  on all equipment will be provided

Description:  The Pre-Collegiate & Access Service Dept. provides education enrichment to students from middle school to first year of college and beyond.  

EOP is designed for students who have the potential to successfully perform in college-level academic work, but who do not meet regular admission standards.  Support services are provided to students to help ensure there support and promote retention.  There is a Summer Component.  

ConnCAP/Upward Bound are college preparation programs for middle and high school students who are new to the idea of college.  Selected students--grade 7-12--from New Britain (is a state funded program ConnCAP); selected students grade 8-12--from Bristol (federally funded program Upward Bound).  Both programs are designed to help students successful complete high school and enroll in a college or post-secondary institution following graduation.  ConnCAP/Upward Bound activities take place during the academic year at Bristol and New Britain Schools.  Students receive academic advising and monitoring, tutoring, college advising and financial aid information.  There is a six-week summer program at CCSU.

Description: HRA is a community action agency with administers many social services and program sites throughout New Britain.  YouthBuild is a collaborative project between HRA, Workforce Partners, Inc. and the City of New Britain Department of Municipal Development.  This program services low-income at risk youth interested in pursuing a career in the building trades industry.  A variety of services are provided including academic remediation, leadership skills, case management, support services and construction training where they work alongside construction crews.  At the completion fo the program participants receive their GED and union card.
