Description:  The Social Services Dept. provides emergency assistance to residents of Greater Hartford.  Individuals and families who are faced with immediate or recurring crises are provided with help to meet their basic human needs through the food pantry, clothing, furniture, rental or utilities' assistance.  It is the intent of the emergency assistance program to go beyond solely meeting the immediate crisis.  The objectives of that program are for recurring crisis participants to acquire the necessary skills that will allow for the opportunity to live free of continual crisis, provide direct services that will address identified problems and cooperate with other service providers that will help meet the holistic needs of each individual.
